About Anna Schrenk

Since childhood I had a great interest in the plant world which led me to studying plant ecology at Prescott College in Arizona in the mid 1990's. After graduating from PC in 1997 I started my career in the plant world with the National Park Service, where I worked in the Vegetation Programs at both Grand Canyon NP and Joshua Tree NP for about six years. In 2003, I started consulting business and spent the next ten years implementing Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) plans for the Department of Interior National BAER Team at sites across the southwest. In 2010 my husband Phil and I left the United States on our 32' sailboat and headed for Mexico, where we spent the next two years cruising the Gulf of California. In 2012, I was offered a 15-month job with Friends of Verde River Greenway to implement the Verde River Cooperative Invasive Plant Management Plan with local partners. Long story short, I am still working with Friends as the Program Manager and coordinating the efforts of the Verde Watershed Restoration Coalition (VWRC) to improve habitat, water flows and build community engagement in the Verde watershed. I love the outdoors, rivers, native plants and am happy to be working towards solutions that protect and restore these incredible resources and places.
